Biomaterials

Business Models

Kensey Nash Corporation (KNC) regularly collaborates with other medical device companies on development efforts that transform concepts and ideas into life-improving products. While the endovascular products are supported by our direct sales and marketing team, most of our products move through the marketplace mainly by licensing agreements, partnerships and other third-party customer relationships. Our successful collaborative relationship with Orthovita, Inc. is one example of our many co-development partnerships. Together, KNC and Orthovita have worked jointly to develop and commercially launch several bone graft biomaterials including the VITOSS® Scaffold FOAM FLOW™, the first ultra-porous flowable scaffold that can be administered in minimally invasive surgical procedures.

With a solid foundation in the application of biomaterials for use in medical products, KNC has made a commitment to make available our substantial development and production expertise to others for their outsourcing needs. To this end, we are a leading manufacturer of private label, injection-molded and extruded synthetic resorbable products used in various orthopaedic and general surgical applications, most notably in sports medicine. Through relationships with key partners, we provide a broad range of soft tissue attachment devices and trauma implants for these markets.

In addition to finished devices, we also manufacture components used in the assembly of medical implants for several industry leaders including St. Jude Medical, Inc., for whom we are a supplier of collagen plugs and molded polymer anchors for the Angio-Seal™ Vascular Closure Device. Our unique and proprietary products often represent a key strategic source for these customers and partners.
